Archbishop Alfons Nossol

Archbishop Alfons Nossol

Born on 8 August 1932 in Brożec. Ordained a priest on 23 June 1957 in Opole. Our diocesan bishop. He received his episcopal consecration on 17 August 1977. Appointed archbishop ad personam on 12 November 1999. Grand Chancellor of the Faculty of Theology of the University of Opole.

On 18 March 1994 Bishop Alfons Nossol visited our parish of Chrząszczyce; we learned unofficially that he had decided to visit our chapel as well.

Then the idea arose of presenting His Excellency with a gift on this occasion. Many proposals were made, but it was decided to prepare a modest monograph about our village, taking into account above all documents and various pieces of information on when the “Good News of the Holy Gospel” effectively reached our village.

We hurriedly began to collect old photographs and various documents. It turned out that there was quite a lot of it. It was also an impulse to go on collecting information after the visit, but no longer only on sacred subjects. The fruit of this is the present website.

Our first chronicle on the sacred in Folwark. In those days access to computers was still limited. Only 3 copies were produced, the first of which was presented to His Excellency the Bishop.

A short speech by our guest to the numerous faithful gathered in our chapel. At the end, a review of our “property” – the furnishings of the chapel – and the farewell.

The visit was short. But for us it was an event and above all a great honour. At the end the Bishop left us his dedication on the second copy of “Our History”: “Do the truth in love!” That is indeed how we want to bear witness every day to our genuine Christian life. God bless! /signature/ A. Nossol, Chrząszczyce 2008:
